- What should I expect at an individual organizing session?
During an organizing session, I work one-on-one with you to create an organizing system that is tailored to your way of thinking and work habits. I work with you to understand how you function by asking a multitude of questions about all aspects of your work, office space, work habits, communication style, and how you think. I want to accurately capture the way you work in order to develop a great system for you. Back to top
- What should I expect at an administrative systems consulting session?
A consulting project involves looking at the administrative assistant level of a company or department as a whole. Sessions generally consist of interviewing the administrative assistants and their managers, observing assistants' work habits, and reviewing the current administrative systems including office paper-flow, filing, and electronic resources. With this information, I develop an evaluation of both the administrative assistant team and the administrative infrastructures and suggest what steps need to be taken to improve the existing processes. - Can we meet in person before beginning our organizing sessions?
Absolutely. It is usually recommended to have a 15-20 minute "greet and walk-through" of the office space. Many clients have an easier time describing their organizing issues when in their space. You may also choose to skip the "greet and walk-through" meeting and schedule a regular first session. Back to top
- How should I prepare for my first appointment?
During the first session, we will want to focus on areas where you have issues or concerns. If you can, please spend time during the course of the week prior to the session jotting down problems as they arise. Past clients have had challenges such as: misplaced documents; finding mistakes after the fact; difficulty prioritizing; missed deadlines; overlooked tasks; difficulty standardizing the use of electronic resources. With a list of the elements you want to focus on, we can make our first session even more productive. Back to top
- What types of supplies should I have on hand?
Please make sure you have a good stock of manila folders and hanging folders that fit your filing cabinets (legal or letter sized as applicable). Also, please make sure you have tabs and tab fillers, file labels (Avery or other), and post-its. Back to top
- How long is each session?
Depending on your needs and schedule, an individual session usually lasts 3-4 hours and is initially scheduled once or more per week. The minimum appointment time is 2 hours, however, a 3-hour session is suggested while completing the first stages of organizing. The individual(s) involved should plan on being present for the whole appointment. Consulting sessions vary depending upon the company, the type of project, and the stage of the project. Back to top
- How long does a project last?
This depends upon the scope of the project and how often we meet. The closer together the initial sessions are, the quicker the organizing process will be completed, as there will be less "backsliding" between sessions. Past clients have ranged from a few sessions to 6-12 months of weekly or bimonthly sessions to ongoing monthly sessions at the request of the client. Back to top
- Can I call or email with questions after my consultation?
Yes. I will also connect with you 6-8 weeks after your organizing project is completed to make sure everything is still working to your satisfaction. Back to top
- How much is an organizing session or project?
This depends on your needs. Individual sessions are charged on an hourly basis and a consulting project is charged either hourly or per project depending upon the scope. Please contact me at 503.544.6147 or felisa@savvyorganization.com to discuss your individual needs. Back to top
